This article analyzes the Colombian manufacturing sector between 2013 - 2017, because this sector has been evolving in order to become a sustainable, diversified industry with potential significant development, the industry has overcome great challenges, but also is the vital importance for the Colombian economy. The Relevant factors are contextualized as the diplomatic relations between Colombia and Panama and how they have been affected as a result of the commercial dispute, that exists between these countries, due to the triangulation where the entry of Asian products to Colombia which is evidenced, which first arrive to Panama and then they are re-exported, situation that undoubtedly affects the national industry, addition to providing an explanation of the behavior of the Gross Domestic Product, based on the manufacturing sector in Colombia and Panama, emphasizing that the Panamanian economy is focused on the logistics sector and services, which is based on official statistical data, it is evident that there are other underlying causes of the affectation in the Colombian manufacturing industry such contraband, so different alternatives are proposed to boost the manufacturing industry in Colombia.
