This article of reflection seeks to approach the importance of the implementation of valuegained methodology as a control of purview, time and cost in the projects onthe public sectorin Colombia, That is why we approach the public projects , current problems are explained, existing forms of control with methods that currently are use and the method of value gained (EVM) is defined, making the contextualization of its variables, terms and application through formulas. The objective of this article is to understand the methodology of value gained as a method of control and the importance of applying it into public sector projects, the benefits will allow it to be used as a tool for making decisions that guarantee the proper functioning of any project.
