On the other hand, it is worth mentioning that the orange economy in the department of Atlántico is made up of the following segments: news agencies and other information services; performing arts and shows; visual arts; audiovisuals; design; editorial; phonography; digital media and content software; and tourism and cultural and intangible heritage. It should also be noted that within the main results of the study mentioned before, 85 out of every 100 companies that make up the orange economy segment in the Atlántico do not exceed five years of age, that is, they are supremely young productive units.
In this work, we study the behavior of companies of the Departamento del Atlántico - Colombia in the Tourism, Events and Business (TEB) segment during the period of time from 2013 to 2017 in terms of assets, sales, profits and employed personnel, with the data of the commercial register of the Barranquilla Chamber of Commerce as the main source for this research. It is to stand out, that this sector is made up of economic activities related to the promotion of business and tourism such as hotels, trade fairs, travel agencies, restaurants, air and ground transportation, professional organizers of congresses and events. Due to the favorable impact of the TEB segment for the city and the territory in terms of employment, business promotion and the development of innovation and business formality, among others, the "Equipo Destino", made up of the Alcaldía Distrital de Barranquilla, Gobernación del Atlántico, ProBarranquilla and the Barranquilla Chamber of Commerce, gives it a high degree of relevance as a strategic business segment for the projection of this sector of the country at national and international level. Among the main results of this research, it was found that 76 out of every 100 companies in the TEB segment do not surpass seven years after entering the market, that is to say, they are extremely young production units; likewise, in the same analysis period of time, the total assets experienced an annual real growth rate of 22%, while net sales did so with 7.6%. However, it should be noted that the business links where the highest contributions are concentrated in terms of the number of companies, staff employed and some economic indicators such as assets, sales and profits are in the Event and Transportation providers. On the other hand, it should be noted that the large companies, due to their greater contributions, stand out in almost all related variables.
